Nether Stowey (1905), Stoke St Gregory (1909), Wincanton (1913) and Wootton Courtenay (1913)

I'm working through some recent acquisitions, so in date order here's a cover from Nether Stowey to Bishop's Hull in September 1905, redirected to Cardiff.

This postcard from Stoke St Gregory to North Curry in December 1909 is answering a query about local thatchers.

Here is a registered envelope from Wincanton to New Jersey in August 1913, going via Bath railway station to Southampton before being received in New York.

Finally here is a 1913 Christmas postcard going from Wootton Courtenay to Lydeard St Lawrence.  Postmarked on Christmas Eve, it might have been delivered the same day.

Aishcott [Ashcott] and Bridg(e)water

This first entire dated May 1799 is from "AISHCOTT" (later Ashcott) to Wiveliscombe, with a straight line "BRIDGEWATER" handstamp known 1799-1801.

Switching to the Bridgwater Penny Post, this next cover from Kilve has a large framed "No.1" handstamp, known in use at Nether Stowey. The cover is dated September 1814 inside.

It is not known where the unboxed "No.2" handstamp was used in the Bridgwater Penny Post.  This entire dated July 1840 was written at Bardon near Williton.

Bridgewater Penny Post

Some examples from the Bridgewater Penny Post, first from Stowey which had been assigned the boxed "No.1" handstamp, from 1825 and 1828

And then some examples of the boxed "No.2" handstamp, assigned to Cannington.  This first example, from 1819, is an albino strike which may not show up well in the image.

 The next example is from 1822, still with the early unframed "BRIDGEWATER / PENNY POST" handstamp.

And finally a later, but undated, example with the framed "Bridgewater / Py Post" handstamp, known 1834-1830.

UDCs from [Nether] Stowey, Trull and Winsford

First a Stowey UDC in red from February 1849.  It is known in red from August 1846 to May 1849.

Next a Stowey UDC in  blue-green from September 1855.  This is the example that was recorded as being in green but could have been in blue bearing in mind the discolouration of other handstamps on the entire.  Whichever colour the UDC is (blue or green), it is currently the latest known example.

This Trull UDC from December 1852 in black is currently the only known example.

An finally a small Winsford UDC from March 1858 in blue.  This is currently the latest known example.
