UDCs part 2 - Huish Champflower, Huntspill, Isle Abbotts, Lympsham, Marston Magna, Martock

 More UDCs, mostly issued to villages, starting with "HUISH-CHAMPFLOWER" used in October 1859, currently the latest known usage in black.

... "HUNTSPILL" udc used in July 1855 ....

The "ISLE-ABBOTS" udc below is currently the only recorded example, while the example of the "WRANTAGE" udc is currently the earliest usage recorded.

The "LYMPSHAM" udc below is in blue, the first recorded example in blue.

The example of the "MARSTON MAGNA" udc below is undated, one other example is known used in December 1858.

The "MARTOCK" udc below in blue is also known in black.

UDCs: Holnicote and Huish-Champflower

Here is a further, quite poor, example of the "HOLNICOTE" UDC dated 16th May 1853 (see here for an example posted earlier).  The UDC was issued in September 1845 under Taunton.  Below is currently the earliest recorded example.

The envelope below has an example of the "HUISH-CHAMPFLOWER" UDC used on 26th September 1857.  It was issued in April 1852 under Wellington.

A few Hs - Hatch Beauchamp, Henstridge, Holford, Huish-Champflower

As you may have gather from the previous posts, I'm catching up with some recent acquisitions in alphabetical order ... and I've got to Hatch Beauchamp.  The Letter Card below has "HATCH BEAUCHAMP / TAUNTON.SOMERSET" double circle double-blob cancels (not sure what the approved terminology is for these cancels) and is posted on the first day of issue of the 1½d KGVI stamp.

This next item from Henstridge also looks philatelic, being an Air Letter posted within Henstridge in September 1957.

I don't understand the postal markings on this next item from Holford to London - it has a "HOLFORD / BRIDGWATER . SOMERSET" double circle double line arc cancel dated September 1958 (aka a 'Birmingham' cancel after the first place to be issued with them) and it has a "MINEHEAD / SOMERSET" unified machine cancel dated June 1959.  I don't understand the two postmarks with just the one stamp.

And finally a Valentine envelope posted from Huish-Champflower to Corfe with a faint partial "HUISH-CHAMPFLOWER" udc as well as transit marks from Wiveliscombe, Wellington and Taunton, all dated February 1857.

Main period sans-serif 25mm UDCs under Wellington

There were 12 offices under Wellington that were issued with main period UDCs.

Brompton-Ralph's UDC was issued on 6th March 1852.  Usage is known in blue from December 1852 to July 1854, and in black from November 1857 to February 1859.  The example below in blue is from December 1853, just two days after the earliest known usage.

Huish-Champflower had its UDC issued on 10th April 1852, after a mispelt UDC ("HEWISH-CHAMPFLOWER") was issued on 6th March.  It is known used in blue from April 1852 to August 1854, and in black in March 1858.  The example below in blue is from August 1852.

Milverton had its UDC issued on 21st December 1844.  It is known used in black from December 1844 to June 1852 and in blue from January 1850 to July 1852.  The example below is from January 1846.  Milverton at this stage had a numeric obliterator ("862") but would appear to still be under Wellington as witnessed by the dated handstamp on the reverse.
