Money Letter from Frome to Whatley in 1893/4

The OHMS Money Letter below was sent registered to the Sub-Postmaster of Whatley from Frome, its main post office, and would most probably have contained money to run the post office.

The letter bears despatch marks from Frome M.O & S.B (Money Order & Savings Bank) dated 16th December 1893 and receipt marks at Whatley on 1st January 1894.  What was happening to the letter in the meantime (just over two weeks) ?

Climax Rubber Handstamps - Dulverton & Frome sub-offices

I only have one sub-office for each of Dulverton and Frome.

Hawkridge was originally under Tiverton and had a "HAWKRIDGE / TIVERTON" Type Ib handstamp issued in July 1891 before it transferred to Dulverton where a "HAWKRIDGE / DULVERTON / SOMERSET" Type 2 handstamp was in use by June 1913.  The example below is dated September 1926.

Whatley had two "WHATLEY / FROME" Type Ib handstamps, the first issued in July 1893 and the second known from October 1914.  The example below is from February 1920.
