Westhay, West Pennard, Weston-super-Mare, Wincanton and Middle Street, Yeovil

Finally, to finish off the pile of material that has accumulated in recent months, here are a number of items late in the alphabet starting with a Certificate of Posting from Westhay in 1986.

Next is a telegram to Mr Allen (of cider fame) with a "WEST PENNARD / GLASTONBURY.SOMERSET" double circle double-arc handstamp dated July 1930.

The registered envelope below is from Weston-super-Mare in August 1915 to Japan and has the manuscript annotation "Via Siberia if available or america".

Here is a Wincanton Parcel Post Label dated July 1912.

And finally a registered letter from Middle Street, Yeovil in 1922 with a Yeovil registration etiquette manually filled in with sub-office "1".

West Pennard with Railway Connections

Here are two covers from December 1930 with West Pennard cancels, both with railway connections.  The first has a seal on the reverse for "The Southern Railway Company" while the second is a Notice of Arrival of Merchandise from the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway.

UDCs #5 - Stokes Croft (B), Street, Weare, West Pennard

Bringing this small collection of UDCs to a close, here is a UDC from Stokes Croft in Bristol from February 1852.  I'm afraid that my attention seems to have wandered as I now seem to be collecting Bristol Postal History as well as Somerset.

These next two sheets show the currently earliest and latest recorded examples of the first Streeet UDC, from March 1848 ...

... and September 1848.  The second Street UDC was issued in June 1849.

Weare was issued with a UDC in December 1853; below is the earlst recorded example, from August 1853.

And finally here is an example of the West Pennard UDC from March 1857, currently the latest known example.
