A couple of advertising envelopes, 185x and 1865

The Parkins and Gotto advertising envelope below was used in 185x and advertised stationary.  The envelope was used from Crewkerne to Dorchester.

The TS Smith & Co. envelope was used in 1865 from Bristol to Crickhowell, advertising various business and financial management activities. 

"Tatcho" for the Hair

Below is a postcard sent sometime between 1913 and 1921 advertising "Tatcho" for the hair.

The product had a musical hall song in its honour:

Minehead Krag cancels 1934, 1938 on commercial advertising envelopes

 Here are two commercial envelopes advertising J. Webber & Sons, Florists in Minehead, from 1934 and 1939.

It appears that James Webber & Sons had joined the Florists Telegraph Delivery Association between the two dates (called Interflora from 1953).  This allowed them to send telegrams to Florists in other locations to get flowers delivered.

S. Rawlings & Son Ltd, Frome 1909

A Trio of Advertising Envelopes

Here are a trio of advertising envelopes, starting with one from Bristol in 1913 advertising 'Fitu' corsets.

The envelope below advertised Fardon's Vinegar in 1928 - it was sent as printed matter but charged 2d psotage due as it was liable to the letter rate.  The addressee refused the letter.

Here is an advertising envelope for Radiac Shirts, Collars and Pyjamas.  The firm was taken over and became part of 'Tootal'.

Bridgwater Squared Circle and Krag cancels

Here are a couple of covers from Bridgwater, the first to Germany with two Bridgwater squared circle cancels from September 1891.  The envelope has an oval imprint for "SULLY & COMPANY".  They were coal and culm merchants.

The second postcard was sent to Cornwall in June 1928, with a Bridgwater Krag cancel.  The postcard is from "JOHN BOARD & Co. Ltd." who were Cement Lime and Brick Manufacturers.

More Bath

Here are a few more random Bath items, starting with a registered envelope send within Bath in December 1891 that has been marked as fragile - with diagonal blue lines in addition to the normal crossed lines.

This next envelope was posted in June 1895 and features an envelope with advertising on the reverse.

This registered envelope, sent in June 1922 to the USA, is postmarked "GROSVENOR / BATH" and was sent at the reduced 'Empire' rate.

And finally here is a page from a Post Office Savings Bank Book with "WESTMORELAND . BATH / SOMERSET" single ring handstamps from January 1950.
