A couple of Telegrams - Bristol, Bath?

Here are a couple of Telegrams starting with one to Stokes Croft, Bristol in December 1931. It has a 24m "BRISTOL / T" handstamp.  "CANNOT MANAGE TODAY WHAT ABOUT QUEENS HOTEL BIRMINGHAM TOMORROW - BILLY"

The second telegram is to Pulteney Street, Bath in August 1963 - "HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL LOVE - JANET".  The slightly strange thing is that there is a 24mm "BRISTOL / T" handstamp on the reverse, so was this telegram to Bath actually handled by the Bristol post office ?  Bath is about 13 miles from Bristol.  Was it processed in Bristol and then put in the post bag for Bath ?

Clevedon Telegraph Form, 1894 and Postcard 1904

The unused Telegraph form below has a Queen Victoria 6d embossed stamp and a "THE TRIANGLE / CLEVEDON" handstamp dated 2nd August 1894.

The QV 6d embossed stamp is similar to the 1854 6d embossed postage stamp but has small circular marks towards the base.  The back of the form details what the 6d charge includes.

The Postcard below was sent from Clevedon to Clifton in 1904 - the postcard was written at 2:30 with the sender indicating that they would be home about 10pm and presumably expected that the postcard would be delivered before then.  With that kind of delivery why would one send a Telegram ?

The Electric and International Telegraph Company, 1863

The telegram below was sent in 1863 from Bristol to London using the Electric and International Telegraph Company.

The Electric Telegraph Company was the world's first public telegraph company, founded in  1846.  It merged with the International Telegraph Company (ITC) in 1854 to become the Electric and International Telegraph Company.

The company was nationalised by the British government in 1870 under the Telegraph Act 1868 along with most other British telegraph companies.  The Telegraph Act 1870 extended the 1868 Act to include the Isle of Man Telegraph Company and the Jersey and Guernsey Telegraph Company, but excluded the Submarine Telegraph Company and other companies which exclusively operated international cables.

The Electric Telegraph Company formed the largest component of the resulting state monopoly run by the GPO.
