Exford (1939) and Freshford (1936)

The postcard below is from Exford to Smethwick in August 1939 - "Could you please send my raincoat and bathing costume on ...".  A month later WW II had started.

The cover below was sent from Freshford to Adderbury and then redirected to Malvern in July 1936.  Nothing particularly special about this apart from having a Freshford cancel which I was missing.

Telegram from High Bickington, Devon to Limpley Stoke, Bath in September 1872

The telegram below was sent from High Bickington, near South Molton, Devon, to Limpley Stoke near Bath in September 1872.  It was delivered from the Freshford Post Office about 3/4 mile away and bears a "FRESHFORD" single ring handstamp.

Freshford / Bath skeleton cancel used on 22nd February 1912

 Skeleton cancels are employed at post offices when their cancellers break, are changed, or perhaps are temporarily mislaid.  The "FRESHFORD / BATH" skeleton below is currently only known used on 22nd February 1912.

Main period sans-serif 25mm UDCs under Bath

54 of the offices under Bath had main period UDCs issued (there were more than 54 different ones as some places had more than one UDC issued, and many are also known used in multiple colours).

Freshford had three UDCs registered, on 2nd November 1844, on 11th February 1849 and in September 1852.  The example below is from the last UDC registered and is from December 1858. Its use was previously unrecorded in the S&DPHG catalogue.

Midford's UDC was registered in September 1852 and is known used in March 1859.  Unfortunately the example below has no date.

Weston's UDC was registered on 2nd November 1844.  The example below is currently the only example known.
