East Chinnock Post Office Handstamp

An item recently acquired from eBay:



The year slugs in the box date the handstamp to the late 1980s - 2000 - it was around this date that the Post Office in East Chinnock moved.

Here is a copy of the cancel:

    That's almost certainly older than 1980s, the typeface suggests anything from the 40s to 60s.

    On the back of the removable head, there is probably the month/year of manufacture stamped into it, usually with the letter E before it.

    That might be worth a look.
