Wells Penny Post

Two wrappers sent in the Wells Penny Post, with Receiving House marks - a framed "No.16" and an unframed "No.17".  These are likely to originally be from the Bristol Penny Post.  Oxley assigns "No.16" to Oakhill.  Chew Magna had "No.43" from 1830-33 but was then given "No.17" which it had from 1834-1840 (source - "Bristol 5th Clause & Penny Posts 1793-1840" by Ian Warn). So "No.17" is likely to be Chew Magna.   From 1818 a number of Receiving Houses, including these, were under Bristol, Bath and Wells, ie. they could sent mail to whichever Post Town, depending on where it was addressed.
Below is a map of the Wells Penny Post, taken from an article in the S&DPHG Journal:

Wedding and Coronation

The wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 was an occasion of national and worldwide interest, commemorated by a country-wide slogan cancel.
This was followed in June 1953 by the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, after the death of her father, King George VI on 6th February 1952.
